A quick and easy layered dip perfect for gatherings, combining creamy beans, tangy salsa, fresh veggies, and cheese for a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (16 oz / 450 g) refried beans
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream
  • 1 cup (240 ml) guacamole
  • 1 cup (240 ml) salsa
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (150 g) diced tomatoes, seeds removed
  • ¼ cup (25 g) chopped green onions
  • ½ cup (75 g) sliced black olives
  • Optional: chopped cilantro, jalapeños, lime juice

Instructions

  1. Open a 16 oz (450 g) can of refried beans and scoop into a mixing bowl. Stir in ½ tsp cumin and ½ tsp garlic powder if desired. Spread evenly into the bottom of your serving dish (3-5 minutes).
  2. In a separate bowl, combine 1 cup (240 ml) sour cream with a pinch of salt and pepper. Spread gently over the bean layer (2-3 minutes).
  3. Spoon 1 cup (240 ml) guacamole over the sour cream layer, spreading evenly but leaving some texture (3 minutes).
  4. Spoon 1 cup (240 ml) salsa on top of the guacamole, avoiding pooling to keep layers distinct (2 minutes).
  5. Sprinkle 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the salsa (1 minute).
  6. Top with 1 cup (150 g) diced tomatoes, ¼ cup (25 g) chopped green onions, and ½ cup (75 g) sliced black olives (3 minutes).
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let flavors meld and layers set.

Notes

Drain excess liquid from salsa and tomatoes to prevent sogginess. Spread layers gently to keep them distinct. Use ripe avocados for best guacamole texture. Can be made ahead and refrigerated for better flavor melding. For vegan or dairy-free versions, substitute sour cream and cheese with plant-based alternatives.
