These savory, buttery, garlicky sautéed mushrooms are quick to make, packed with flavor, and perfect as a side dish for steak, chicken, or baked potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound button or baby Bella mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 23 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 23 cloves garlic, minced
  • 12 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • Pinch of salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: thinly sliced onion
  • Optional: fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel to remove dirt. Slice them or leave them whole, depending on preference.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until the butter melts.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Add the mushrooms to the skillet, spreading them out evenly. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and release their juices.
  5. Sprinkle in salt and pepper, then pour in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and beef broth. Stir to coat the mushrooms evenly.
  6. Lower the heat slightly and let the mushrooms simmer for 4-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter and stir until melted for a glossy finish. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley or thyme and serve alongside your favorite main dish.
