Juicy chicken breasts are baked in a rich, buttery honey glaze with a hint of garlic and smoked paprika for a sweet-savory family dinner inspired by Texas Roadhouse. This easy, crowd-pleasing bake comes together quickly and is perfect for busy weeknights or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (only if using unsalted butter, or to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs (optional, for topping)
  • Cooking spray or oil (for greasing baking dish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or oil.
  2. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. If very thick, slice in half horizontally for even cooking.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter and honey until smooth and creamy. Add garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. If using unsalted butter, add salt. Whisk again.
  4. Arrange the chicken breasts in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour the honey butter sauce evenly over the chicken. Use a brush or spoon to coat all sides.
  6. If desired, sprinkle panko bread crumbs over the chicken for a crispy topping. Gently press down so they stick.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and the top is golden. For thin breasts, check at 20 minutes.
  8. Optional: Broil for 2-3 minutes at the end for a deeper golden crust, watching closely to prevent burning.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  10. Serve hot, spooning extra sauce from the pan over the chicken.

Notes

For extra juicy chicken, use thighs and increase baking time by 5-10 minutes. To make gluten-free, skip the panko or use gluten-free breadcrumbs. For a spicy kick, add cayenne or hot honey. Let chicken rest before slicing for maximum juiciness. Sauce may be used for drizzling over sides like rice or veggies.
