Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups (315g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (220g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk (or substitute with 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp vinegar)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (50g) cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Orange and black gel food coloring
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp (30-45ml) milk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Orange gel food coloring
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Gummy worms
  • Sprinkles (Halloween-themed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your bundt pan well using butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the sugar, brown sugar, eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  3. Split the batter evenly into two bowls. Add orange gel food coloring to one bowl and black gel food coloring to the other. Stir until the colors are vibrant.
  4. Spoon alternating dollops of orange and black batter into the bundt pan. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the colors together without overmixing.
  5. Place the bundt pan in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add orange gel food coloring and stir until the glaze is evenly colored.
  8. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cake and add candy eyeballs, gummy worms, and Halloween-themed sprinkles for decoration.
