  • 1 oz (30 ml) fresh pink grapefruit juice
  • 12 fresh rosemary sprigs (one for muddling, one for garnish)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) dry vermouth (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Thin pink grapefruit slice or small rosemary sprig for garnish

Instructions

  1. Take one fresh rosemary sprig and gently muddle it in the cocktail shaker to release oils, about 30 seconds.
  2. Cut pink grapefruit in half and juice until you have 1 oz (30 ml) of fresh juice. Set aside.
  3. Pour 2 oz (60 ml) vodka, 1 oz (30 ml) fresh grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz (15 ml) simple syrup, and 0.5 oz (15 ml) dry vermouth (if using) into the shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker about halfway with ice cubes.
  5. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until cold to the touch.
  6. Strain the cocktail into a chilled martini glass, avoiding rosemary bits or pulp.
  7. Garnish with a thin slice of pink grapefruit on the rim or a small rosemary sprig on top.

Notes

Use fresh grapefruit juice for best flavor. Muddle rosemary gently to avoid bitterness. Chilling the martini glass beforehand keeps the drink crisp longer. Rosemary-infused vodka can be prepared in advance by steeping rosemary sprigs in vodka for a few hours or overnight.
