Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it heat for about 5 minutes.
  2. Pat your steak dry with paper towels to remove moisture.
  3. Rub the steak all over with about 1 tablespoon of oil.
  4. Season both sides generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper, about ½ teaspoon each per side. Add a pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika if desired.
  5. Place the steak flat in the air fryer basket, avoiding overlap if cooking more than one.
  6. Cook for 7 minutes, flipping halfway through at around 3.5 minutes.
  7. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer; aim for 140°F (60°C) for medium doneness.
  8. If the steak hasn’t reached 140°F (60°C), continue cooking in 1-minute increments, flipping each time until the target temperature is reached.
  9. Remove the steak and let it rest on a plate or cutting board for 5-7 minutes, tented loosely with foil.
  10. Slice against the grain and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
