A quick and easy method to make hard boiled eggs with a crispy shell using an air fryer, ready in about 15 minutes. Perfect for a protein-packed snack or meal prep with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs (fresh or a few days old)
  • Optional: pinch of salt or seasoning (smoked paprika, everything bagel seasoning, hot sauce, garlic powder, chili flakes, cayenne pepper, fresh herbs like chives or dill)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 270°F (130°C) for about 3 minutes.
  2. Arrange the eggs in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch each other.
  3. Set the timer for 15 minutes at 270°F (130°C) for hard boiled eggs with a crispy shell. For softer yolks, reduce time to 13 minutes.
  4. Start the air fryer and cook the eggs uninterrupted.
  5. Carefully remove the eggs using tongs or heatproof gloves when the timer ends.
  6. Optionally, place eggs in a bowl of ice water for 5 minutes to cool and stop cooking.
  7. Peel the eggs by gently cracking the shell all over and sliding off the shell and membrane.
  8. Serve immediately or store peeled eggs in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness. Preheat the air fryer for best results. Use room temperature eggs to avoid cracking. Peeling is easier due to the crispy shell. For softer yolks, reduce cooking time to 9-13 minutes depending on preference. Store unpeeled eggs in the fridge up to 7 days; peeled eggs up to 5 days in an airtight container with a damp paper towel. Reheat peeled eggs gently in microwave or air fryer to restore crispiness.
