Crispy, flavorful Parmesan garlic wings made effortlessly in the air fryer, perfect for quick snacks or game day. These wings are coated in a garlicky, cheesy butter sauce and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, whole or split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (about 50 grams)
  • 3 fresh garlic cloves, minced finely
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat 2 lbs (900 g) chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. If whole, split into flats and drumettes using kitchen shears.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss wings with 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 3 minutes.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding. Cook for 25-28 minutes, flipping halfway at 12-14 minutes, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. While wings cook, melt 3 tablespoons unsalted butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Stir in 3 minced garlic cloves and cook gently over low heat for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.
  6. Transfer cooked wings back into the large mixing bowl. Pour warm garlic-Parmesan butter over wings and toss until evenly coated using tongs.
  7. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for garnish and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
  8. Optional: If wings are not crispy enough after tossing in butter, return to air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 400°F (204°C) to crisp up, watching closely to avoid burning cheese.

Notes

Pat wings dry to ensure crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking. Toss wings with warm garlic butter to help Parmesan stick without melting into a soggy mess. Rest wings for a minute or two after cooking to redistribute juices. For extra crispiness, reheat wings briefly in the air fryer after tossing in sauce.
