These spooky, bite-sized OREO truffles are creamy, chocolatey, and perfect for Halloween parties or fun activities with kids. They’re easy to make and customizable for any spooky theme.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 36 OREO cookies (classic or any flavor)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips or candy melts (white, milk, or dark chocolate)
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Decorations like sprinkles, candy eyeballs, black icing, or edible toppers

Instructions

  1. Crush the OREOs: Add the OREO cookies to a food processor and pulse until they’re crushed into fine crumbs. Alternatively, use a zip-top bag and a rolling pin to crush them manually.
  2. Mix the Dough: Transfer the crushed OREOs to a mixing bowl and add the softened cream cheese. Use a spatula or your hands to mix until completely combined. The mixture should form a thick, sticky dough.
  3. Shape the Truffles: Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. You should get about 24-30 truffles depending on the size.
  4. Chill: Refrigerate the truffles for at least 30 minutes to firm them up before dipping them in chocolate.
  5. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt your chocolate or candy melts in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth. Don’t overheat or the chocolate may seize.
  6. Dip the Truffles: Using a fork or candy dipping tool, coat each truffle in the melted chocolate. Tap off any excess and place back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Add Decorations: While the chocolate is still wet, add sprinkles, candy eyeballs, or other spooky decorations. Work quickly before the chocolate hardens!
  8. Let Set: Allow the truffles to sit at room temperature or in the fridge until the chocolate is fully set.

Notes

[‘Chilling the truffles helps them hold their shape when dipping into melted chocolate.’, ‘Work quickly with chocolate as it can harden fast.’, ‘Add a teaspoon of coconut oil to melted chocolate if it’s too thick.’, ‘Use gloves or powdered sugar to prevent the dough from sticking to your hands while shaping.’, ‘Experiment with spooky designs like spider webs, ghost faces, or jack-o’-lanterns.’]
