These spooky bloody pretzels are a fun and festive Halloween treat, combining sweet white chocolate and salty pretzels with a creepy blood-red drizzle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Large pretzel rods
  • 2 cups (340g) white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vegetable oil
  • Red food coloring (gel recommended)
  • Optional decorations: sprinkles or edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to place the pretzels after dipping.
  2. Melt the white chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, add 2 cups (340g) of white chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon (5ml) of vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each. Continue until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  3. Dip the pretzels: Hold each pretzel rod by one end and dip it into the melted white chocolate, covering about ¾ of the pretzel. Allow excess chocolate to drip off, then place it on the parchment paper to set.
  4. Create the ‘blood’ effect: Mix 1-2 drops of red food coloring into the remaining melted white chocolate or a separate bowl. Stir well until the color is vibrant and smooth.
  5. Drizzle the red chocolate: Use a spoon to drizzle the red chocolate over the dipped pretzels in irregular patterns to mimic dripping blood.
  6. Let the pretzels set: Allow the chocolate to harden completely by leaving them at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes. If you’re in a hurry, pop the tray in the fridge for faster setting.

Notes

[‘Avoid overheating the chocolate to prevent it from seizing.’, ‘Work quickly as the white chocolate can harden as it cools.’, ‘Use gel food coloring for vibrant color and better consistency.’, ‘If the chocolate is too thick for dipping, add a small amount of vegetable oil to thin it out.’]
