A silky, tangy, and buttery sauce perfect for seafood, chicken, veggies, pasta, and more. Ready in under 15 minutes, this versatile recipe adds a gourmet touch to any dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • Salt to taste (start with 1/4 teaspoon)
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: Chopped parsley or thyme for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: zest the lemon, juice it, mince the garlic, and cut the butter into small cubes.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter and the minced garlic. Cook for about 1 minute, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant but not browned.
  3. Stir in the fresh lemon juice and zest. Let the mixture simmer gently for about 30 seconds to meld the flavors.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and gradually whisk in the remaining butter, one cube at a time. Whisk continuously to create a smooth, creamy sauce. This step should take about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Add salt and black pepper to taste. If desired, stir in a pinch of red pepper flakes for a hint of spice.
  6. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped parsley or thyme, if using. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Use fresh lemon juice and zest for the best flavor. Whisk continuously to ensure the butter emulsifies properly. Avoid boiling the sauce to prevent separation.
