A quick and easy recipe for chocolate-covered pretzel rods with colorful sprinkles, perfect for any occasion and customizable to your taste.

Ingredients

Scale
  • About 20 pretzel rods (1012 inches long)
  • 12 oz (340 g) chocolate chips or melting wafers (semisweet, milk, or dark chocolate)
  • ½ cup sprinkles (colorful jimmies, nonpareils, or themed sprinkles)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil or coconut oil (optional, for thinning chocolate)
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and gather all ingredients.
  2. Melt 12 oz of chocolate chips or melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl, adding 1 tablespoon of vegetable or coconut oil if using. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy. Alternatively, melt over a double boiler on low heat.
  3. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip it into the melted chocolate until about 3/4 covered. Use a spoon to help coat evenly if desired. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  4. Immediately sprinkle chosen sprinkles generously over the chocolate-covered part before the chocolate sets.
  5. Place the dipped pretzel rod onto the lined baking sheet. Repeat with all pretzels, working quickly as chocolate hardens as it cools.
  6. Chill the baking sheet in the fridge for 15–20 minutes until the chocolate is fully set and firm.
  7. Store extras in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for up to a week.

Notes

Add oil to chocolate to thin and get a glossy finish. Dip pretzels when dry and at room temperature. Add sprinkles immediately after dipping. Chill to set chocolate fully. Reheat chocolate gently if it thickens. Use high-quality chocolate for best results. Variations include adding sea salt, white chocolate drizzle, or alternative coatings like peanut butter or nuts.
