Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin, even slices. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour to the apples. Toss until evenly coated. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until crumbly and evenly combined.
  5. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple mixture, ensuring it covers the apples completely.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the apple crisp cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
