A quick and easy grilled salmon recipe featuring a sticky, sweet, and spicy honey sriracha glaze that balances bold flavors with tender, flaky fish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on, boneless salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 1/4 cup honey (85 g)
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce (30 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (30 ml), low sodium preferred
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (15 ml)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (15 ml)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnishes: chopped green onions or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to help the glaze stick better. Season lightly with salt and pepper on both sides. (5 minutes)
  2. In a bowl, whisk together honey, sriracha, soy sauce, lime juice, minced garlic, and olive oil until smooth and glossy. (3 minutes)
  3. Place salmon in a shallow dish or zip-top bag and pour half the glaze over it. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes at room temperature or up to 30 minutes in the fridge. Reserve the other half of the glaze for basting. (15-30 minutes)
  4. Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (around 400°F / 205°C). Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking. (5-10 minutes)
  5. Place salmon skin-side down on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes without moving to get grill marks. Brush the top side with reserved glaze, then flip carefully. Grill another 3-4 minutes, basting again, until salmon flakes easily with a fork and internal temperature reaches 125-130°F (52-54°C) for medium doneness. (8-10 minutes)
  6. Remove salmon from grill and let rest for 3 minutes to allow juices to redistribute and glaze to set slightly. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired. (3 minutes)

Notes

Pat salmon dry before glazing for best crust. Keep grill heat steady but not too hot to avoid burning glaze. Reserve some glaze for basting during cooking. Can pan-sear and broil if grill is unavailable. Use tamari for gluten-free option. Maple syrup can replace honey for a different sweetness. Watch for flare-ups due to sugar in glaze.
