A creamy, textured overnight oats recipe featuring blueberries and protein powder for a nutritious, easy-to-prepare breakfast that balances flavor and health benefits.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (45 g) rolled oats (old-fashioned)
  • 1 scoop (about 30 g) vanilla protein powder (whey or plant-based)
  • ¼ cup (60 g) Greek yogurt (plain, full-fat or low-fat; can substitute with dairy-free coconut yogurt)
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) milk of choice (dairy or plant-based such as almond, oat, or soy)
  • ½ cup (75 g) blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl or mason jar, add rolled oats, vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, and a pinch of salt. Stir to distribute evenly.
  2. Add wet ingredients: Pour in milk and Greek yogurt. Stir in vanilla extract and honey or maple syrup if using.
  3. Fold in blueberries gently to avoid bursting.
  4. Stir thoroughly to fully incorporate the protein powder and achieve a thick but pourable mixture.
  5. Seal the jar or cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  6. In the morning, stir the oats. If too thick, add a splash of milk to loosen. Top with extra blueberries, nuts, or nut butter if desired and serve chilled.

Notes

For smoother protein powder integration, mix protein powder with milk first before adding other ingredients. Use old-fashioned rolled oats for best texture. Frozen blueberries can be used without thawing. Adjust sweetness to taste. Add nuts or granola before serving for crunch. Store leftovers in sealed container up to 3 days; stir in milk before eating if thickened.
