Quick, tasty, and healthier than takeout, these air fryer honey garlic chicken bites feature a sticky-sweet garlic glaze and tender, juicy chicken nuggets perfect for snacks or appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons honey (raw or organic)
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari (for gluten-free)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot powder (optional for extra crispiness)

Instructions

  1. Cut 1 pound of boneless skinless chicken into 1-inch bite-sized pieces and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and optionally 1 tablespoon cornstarch. Toss the chicken pieces until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  4. Place chicken bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Cook for 10–12 minutes, shaking or turning halfway through, until golden and cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. While the chicken cooks, whisk together 3 tablespoons honey, 3 cloves minced garlic, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, and 1 teaspoon rice vinegar until smooth and glossy.
  6. Transfer cooked chicken to a large bowl, pour the honey garlic sauce over it, and toss gently to coat every piece.
  7. Optional: Return coated chicken bites to the air fryer for another 2 minutes at 400°F (200°C) for extra glaze crispiness, watching closely to avoid burning.
  8. Serve warm, optionally garnished with chopped green onions or toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

Pat chicken dry before coating to ensure crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to prevent steaming. For milder garlic flavor, sauté minced garlic in olive oil for 30 seconds before mixing into the honey glaze. Sauce can be made up to 2 days ahead and warmed before use. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheat best in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–5 minutes.
