A refreshing and easy-to-make summer drink combining ripe peaches, fresh mint, black tea, and a touch of sweetness. Perfect for hot days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 3 medium-sized ripe peaches, sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, loosely packed
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 6 cups (1.4 liters) filtered or spring water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the peaches and slice into thin wedges, leaving the skin on.
  2. Bring 6 cups of water to a boil in a large saucepan or pot.
  3. Remove from heat and add the 4 black tea bags and sliced peaches. Cover and steep for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove tea bags and strain out peach slices using a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl or pitcher.
  5. Stir in 1/3 cup granulated sugar while the tea is still warm to dissolve.
  6. Add 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice and stir.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best flavor.
  8. Just before serving, gently bruise the fresh mint leaves with a spoon or muddler to release oils.
  9. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with a few mint leaves.

Notes

Do not oversteep the tea to avoid bitterness; 10 minutes is ideal. Bruise mint leaves gently to release flavor without bitterness. Use fresh ripe peaches for best taste. Sugar can be replaced with honey, agave, stevia, or monk fruit sweetener. Chilling overnight enhances flavor. Keep tea covered in fridge to avoid absorbing odors.
