Fresh Ants on a Log Recipe Easy Creamy Sunflower Seed Butter Snack

fresh ants on a log recipe - featured image

A quick and easy snack featuring fresh celery sticks stuffed with creamy sunflower seed butter and topped with raisins, offering a nut-free, wholesome twist on the classic ants on a log.

Ingredients

  • Celery stalks, fresh and crisp
  • Creamy sunflower seed butter (not chunky)
  • Raisins (seedless, regular or golden)
  • Optional add-ons: chia seeds or hemp seeds, honey (skip for babies under 1 year), cinnamon or vanilla extract mixed into sunflower seed butter

Instructions

  1. Wash and trim the celery stalks: rinse under cold water, pat dry, trim ends, and cut into 4- to 5-inch lengths.
  2. Prepare the sunflower seed butter: mix in cinnamon or vanilla extract if desired until smooth.
  3. Stuff the celery: fill the groove of each celery stick with creamy sunflower seed butter using a small spoon or butter knife, pressing gently to fill completely without overstuffing.
  4. Add the ants: place raisins evenly along the top of the sunflower seed butter. Optionally add seeds or drizzle honey now.
  5. Serve immediately for the freshest crunch or cover and refrigerate up to 4 hours. If chilling, add raisins just before serving to prevent drying.

Notes

Use fresh, crisp celery for best texture. Stir sunflower seed butter before use to mix separated oils. Warm butter briefly if too thick. Press raisins lightly into butter to prevent falling off. For prepping ahead, keep raisins separate and add before serving. Cutting celery diagonally improves presentation.
