Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 packets (1.5 oz / 42 g) cherry-flavored gelatin powder
  • 3 packets (1.5 oz / 42 g) lime-flavored gelatin powder
  • 3 packets (1.5 oz / 42 g) blue raspberry-flavored gelatin powder
  • 2 1/4 cups (540 ml) boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) vodka
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • Non-stick spray or vegetable oil (for greasing molds)
  • Small plastic shot glasses or silicone molds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Cherry Layer: In a medium bowl, dissolve 1 packet (0.5 oz / 14 g) cherry gelatin and 1/6 cup (33 g) sugar in 3/4 cup (180 ml) boiling water. Stir vigorously for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved.
  2. Mix in Vodka: Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka to the cherry mixture, stirring gently to combine without causing foam.
  3. Pour and Chill: Lightly grease your shot molds or cups, then pour the cherry gelatin mixture evenly into about 12 molds. Place in the refrigerator for 45-60 minutes or until firm but still slightly sticky to the touch.
  4. Prepare the White (Unflavored) Layer: While the cherry layer chills, dissolve 1 packet (0.5 oz / 14 g) unflavored gelatin with 1/6 cup (33 g) sugar in 3/4 cup (180 ml) boiling water. Stir well until clear and fully dissolved.
  5. Add Vodka and Cool: Stir in 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka. Let this mixture cool to room temperature but don’t let it set.
  6. Layer the White Gelatin: Remove the red layer from the fridge. Gently pour the white mixture over the red layer, filling the molds about one-third full. Return to the fridge for another 45 minutes, or until set but slightly tacky.
  7. Prepare the Blue Raspberry Layer: Repeat the first step, substituting blue raspberry gelatin for cherry and dissolving with sugar in boiling water. Stir, add vodka, and allow to cool slightly.
  8. Add the Blue Layer: Pour the blue raspberry mixture carefully over the white layer. Fill the molds to the top. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until fully set.
  9. Serve: Once firm, gently pop the jello shots out of the molds or serve directly in the cups. Keep chilled until ready to enjoy.

Notes

Add vodka slowly and stir gently to avoid foam. Pour each layer only when the previous layer is semi-firm and slightly tacky to prevent colors from bleeding. Grease molds lightly to prevent sticking. Keep shots refrigerated until serving. Can substitute vodka with flavored vodka, rum, tequila, or sparkling water for non-alcoholic version. Shots keep well for up to 3 days in the fridge but avoid freezing.
