Easy Overnight Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bake - featured image

A simple and indulgent breakfast bake combining cinnamon rolls and custardy French toast, prepared overnight for a stress-free morning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12-count) package refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Optional toppings: chopped pecans or walnuts, fresh berries, extra icing

Instructions

  1. Open the package of cinnamon rolls and cut each roll into quarters or halves depending on size. Spread the pieces evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and melted butter until smooth.
  3. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll pieces, pressing down lightly so all pieces soak up the mixture.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate overnight or for at least 6 hours.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove plastic wrap and place the baking dish on the middle rack.
  6. Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, or until custard is set and top is golden brown. A toothpick inserted should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Remove from oven and immediately drizzle the included cinnamon roll icing over the top. Optionally, sprinkle with chopped nuts or fresh berries.
  8. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs and milk for smooth custard. Do not skip the overnight soak for best texture. Cut cinnamon rolls into smaller pieces for even soaking. Tent with foil if top browns too quickly. Let rest before serving to firm up. Variations include vegan substitutions, low-sugar options, and adding fruit or nuts.
