A simple and flavorful baked salmon recipe featuring a rich garlic butter sauce, fresh dill, and bright lemon. Perfect for a quick, impressive dinner with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz / 170 g each), skin on or off
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 large lemon, juiced plus thin slices for garnish
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: pinch of smoked paprika or chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  3. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped dill, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Mix until creamy and glossy. Add chili flakes if desired.
  4. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Lightly brush or drizzle olive oil over each fillet, then season with salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides.
  5. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet.
  6. Arrange thin lemon slices on top of each fillet.
  7. Bake salmon in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, until it flakes easily with a fork and the garlic butter is bubbling slightly.
  8. Let the salmon rest for a couple of minutes after baking. Serve immediately, spooning any leftover garlic butter sauce from the pan over the top.

Notes

Use softened butter instead of melted to keep the garlic butter sauce creamy and well-adhered to the salmon. Add lemon slices on top for extra citrus aroma. Avoid overcooking to keep salmon tender and juicy. For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with olive oil or coconut oil. Broil for 1-2 minutes at the end for extra crispness, watching carefully to avoid burning garlic.
