A quick and easy overnight oats recipe that delivers creamy texture and balanced flavor, perfect for meal prep and busy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats (old-fashioned)
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (unsweetened almond milk preferred, but dairy, oat, or soy milk works)
  • ½ cup (120g) Greek yogurt (or dairy-free coconut yogurt)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup for vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional but recommended)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup (75g) fresh or frozen berries (blueberries or raspberries)
  • 2 tablespoons nuts or seeds (optional, toasted almonds, walnuts, or pumpkin seeds)

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 cup (90g) rolled oats and 1 tablespoon chia seeds into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add 1 cup (240ml) milk and ½ cup (120g) Greek yogurt. Stir gently but thoroughly to combine until evenly moistened.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Whisk or stir until honey is fully dissolved.
  4. Spoon the mixture evenly into 4 mason jars or airtight containers, leaving space at the top for expansion.
  5. Top each jar with ½ cup (75g) fresh or frozen berries and sprinkle with nuts or seeds if using.
  6. Seal lids tightly and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight, until oats thicken to a creamy consistency.
  7. In the morning, stir the oats if desired. Eat cold or warm gently in the microwave for about 30 seconds.

Notes

Use old-fashioned rolled oats for best texture. Chia seeds add fiber and thicken the oats. Adjust milk quantity if texture is too thick or runny. Consume within 3-4 days for best freshness. Keep nuts separate if prepping for multiple days to avoid sogginess. Frozen berries can be added before soaking; fresh fruit is best added just before eating.
