A simple, comforting slow cooker recipe using just chicken breasts, honey, and garlic to create a tender, sticky, and flavorful dinner with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 to 2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breasts
  • ⅓ cup (113 grams) honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Peel and mince 4 garlic cloves until finely chopped (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a small bowl, combine ⅓ cup (113 grams) honey with the minced garlic and stir well.
  3. Pat 1.5 to 2 pounds (680 to 900 grams) of skinless, boneless chicken breasts dry with paper towels (2 minutes).
  4. Arrange the chicken breasts in a single layer in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  5. Drizzle the honey and garlic mixture evenly over the chicken breasts and gently spread it to coat every piece (2 minutes).
  6. Cover and cook on low for 3.5 to 4 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender (internal temperature should reach 165°F / 74°C).
  7. About 30 minutes before serving, open the lid and spoon some sauce over the chicken. If the sauce is too thin, optionally switch the slow cooker to high for 15-20 minutes to reduce the liquid.
  8. Carefully remove the chicken breasts and spoon extra honey garlic sauce over the top before serving.

Notes

Use fresh garlic for best flavor. Do not overcrowd the slow cooker to ensure even cooking. Cooking on low heat prevents honey from burning. For a thicker glaze, reserve some sauce before cooking and stir in cornstarch during the last 20 minutes. Chicken thighs can be used instead, cooking 4 to 5 hours on low. Leftover sauce is great over rice or veggies. If no slow cooker is available, use a Dutch oven on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
