  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream

  • 1 pint (450 grams) fresh strawberries, washed and hulled
  • 1 small loaf or about 8 ounces (225 grams) pound cake, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Optional: pinch of sea salt flakes
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • Optional: a few drops almond extract

Instructions

  1. Wash and hull the strawberries, making sure they’re dry. Cut the pound cake into 1-inch cubes and arrange on a serving platter. (10 minutes)
  2. Warm 1 cup (240 ml) of heavy cream over medium-low heat in a fondue pot or small saucepan until hot but not boiling, with small bubbles forming around edges. (3-5 minutes)
  3. Remove cream from heat and immediately add chopped chocolate. Let sit for 1 minute to soften. (1 minute)
  4. Gently stir with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until chocolate melts completely and mixture is silky. If lumps appear, return briefly to low heat, stirring constantly to avoid burning. (2-3 minutes)
  5. Add softened unsalted butter and vanilla extract. Stir until fully incorporated for a shiny finish and richer flavor. (1 minute)
  6. Transfer chocolate mixture to fondue pot with heat source to keep warm, or keep in saucepan and stir occasionally to prevent thickening. (Immediate)
  7. Serve with strawberries and pound cake cubes for dipping. Optionally sprinkle sea salt flakes or orange zest on top. (As desired)

Notes
