A quick and easy snack featuring juicy cocktail sausages wrapped in flaky puff pastry, served with a sweet and tangy homemade honey mustard sauce. Perfect for parties, snacks, or casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (about 8 oz / 225 g), thawed but still cold
  • 24 cocktail sausages (about 14 oz / 400 g)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 teaspoon water (egg wash)
  • Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the honey mustard sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth out creases. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the sheet into 24 equal rectangles (about 2 inches by 3 inches each).
  4. Place one cocktail sausage on each puff pastry rectangle. Brush the edges of the pastry with a bit of water to help seal. Roll the pastry around the sausage, pinching the edges to seal completely. Place seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Beat one egg with a teaspoon of water. Use a pastry brush to lightly coat each wrapped sausage with egg wash.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds on top for extra crunch and visual appeal.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the puff pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a rack. Serve warm with the honey mustard sauce on the side or drizzled over the top.

Notes

Keep puff pastry cold until ready to use to prevent stickiness. Seal edges well with water to avoid pastry opening during baking. If pastry puffs unevenly, gently press down with a spatula during the first few minutes of baking. For extra crispiness, broil for 30 seconds at the end, watching carefully. Leftovers reheat best in the oven to maintain crispiness.
