A quick and easy recipe for crispy bacon-wrapped hot dogs filled with melty cheese, perfect for parties or a satisfying snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 regular beef or pork hot dogs
  • 8 strips of thick-cut bacon
  • 8 slices of cheddar or American cheese
  • Cooking oil or spray (such as avocado oil) for greasing
  • Optional: mustard or ketchup for serving
  • Optional: chopped green onions or jalapeños for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Lay out your hot dogs and bacon strips on a clean surface. Place one cheese slice on each hot dog, folding it lengthwise if needed to fit snugly.
  2. Carefully wrap one strip of bacon around each cheese-covered hot dog. Use a toothpick to secure the end of the bacon so it doesn’t unravel during cooking.
  3. Preheat your skillet over medium heat and lightly grease with oil or spray.
  4. Place the bacon-wrapped hot dogs in the skillet. Cook about 5-7 minutes per side, turning carefully with tongs until the bacon is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
  5. Transfer hot dogs to a paper towel-lined plate to soak up excess grease. Let them rest for 2 minutes.
  6. Remove toothpicks and serve with your favorite condiments and optional toppings.

Notes

Do not wrap the bacon too tightly to allow it to crisp properly. Use thick-cut bacon for best results. Cook over medium or medium-low heat to avoid burning the bacon before the cheese melts. You can bake at 400°F for about 20 minutes on a rack over a foil-lined sheet as an alternative method. Refrigerate wrapped hot dogs up to 1 hour before cooking to help bacon hold tight.
