A quick and easy air fryer salmon recipe featuring perfectly crispy skin and a bright, fresh lemon dill butter that melts luxuriously over the fish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets (about 6 ounces or 170 grams each)
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (about 60 grams), softened
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Zest of one lemon
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • Pinch of salt for lemon dill butter

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine softened unsalted butter, finely chopped fresh dill, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and refrigerate to firm up slightly.
  2. Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Brush the skin side with olive oil and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  4. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes depending on thickness, aiming for crispy skin and opaque, flaky flesh. No flipping needed.
  5. Check for doneness by ensuring the salmon flakes easily with a fork. Let rest for 1-2 minutes after cooking.
  6. Serve salmon hot with dollops of the zesty lemon dill butter melting over the top.

Notes

Pat salmon skin dry for best crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. No need to flip the salmon during cooking. Lemon dill butter can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. For dairy-free option, substitute butter with vegan butter or olive oil herb drizzle.
