A quick and easy recipe for perfectly roasted, crispy Brussels sprouts made in the air fryer. This healthy side dish features a balance of crunchy edges and tender insides, ready in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 grams) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 grams) salt
  • ¼ teaspoon (1 gram) freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon (1.5 grams) garlic powder (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon (0.5 grams) smoked paprika (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons (10 grams) freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Juice of half a lemon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 pound (450 grams) of Brussels sprouts under cold water. Trim off the stem ends and remove any yellow or damaged outer leaves. Slice each sprout in half lengthwise.
  2. Place the halved sprouts in a mixing bowl. Add 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil, ½ teaspoon (2.5 grams) salt, ¼ teaspoon (1 gram) freshly ground black pepper, ½ teaspoon (1.5 grams) garlic powder, and ¼ teaspoon (0.5 grams) smoked paprika if using. Toss well to coat evenly.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 2 minutes.
  4. Place the sprouts cut-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 8 minutes, then shake the basket or use tongs to flip the sprouts for even browning. Continue cooking for another 7-10 minutes until desired crispness is reached.
  5. Transfer sprouts to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons (10 grams) freshly grated Parmesan if desired, and squeeze half a lemon over the top.

Notes

Dry Brussels sprouts thoroughly after washing to ensure crispiness. Shake or flip sprouts halfway through cooking for even roasting. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. If sprouts start to burn before tender, lower temperature by 10-15°F and increase cooking time slightly. For vegan option, omit Parmesan or use nutritional yeast.
