A quick and easy frozen snack featuring ripe banana slices coated in dark chocolate with a creamy peanut butter drizzle and a hint of sea salt. Perfect for a guilt-free indulgence that’s refreshing and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium ripe bananas, sliced into 1/2-inch thick slices
  • 1 cup (170g) dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) natural peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut 3 medium ripe bananas into 1/2-inch thick slices, keeping them uniform for even freezing.
  2. Arrange banana slices in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they do not touch. Freeze for at least 1 hour until firm.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 1 cup dark chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between, until smooth and glossy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Dip each frozen banana slice into the melted chocolate, coating thoroughly. Let excess drip off, then place back on the parchment paper. This takes about 10 minutes.
  5. Freeze the chocolate-coated banana slices for 30 minutes to set the chocolate shell firmly.
  6. Warm 1/4 cup natural peanut butter with 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup in a small bowl until smooth and pourable (about 20-30 seconds in the microwave). Stir well.
  7. Drizzle the peanut butter mixture over the frozen banana bites using a spoon or piping bag. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top.
  8. Freeze for another 15 minutes to let the peanut butter drizzle set.
  9. Serve immediately from the freezer or let soften for a minute or two if frozen solid.

Notes

Freeze banana slices before dipping to prevent mushiness and chocolate melting too fast. Coconut oil in chocolate helps achieve a glossy, firm coating. Warm peanut butter gently for smooth drizzle; thin with a splash of water or milk if needed. Sprinkle sea salt immediately after drizzling for better adhesion and flavor contrast. For nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter or tahini. Store in airtight container up to 2 weeks. Let soften at room temperature for 5 minutes before eating for best texture.
