Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (about 300g) – rotisserie chicken recommended
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (225g)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (120ml)
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (120ml) – Frank’s RedHot recommended
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (100g)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (100g)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions or chives (optional, for garnish)
  • About 24 pretzel bites (store-bought soft bites or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese and sour cream. Use an electric mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy, no lumps.
  3. Stir in the buffalo wing sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the dip has a vibrant orange color.
  4. Fold in shredded chicken, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese using a spatula to gently combine, ensuring even distribution.
  5. Transfer the mixture to an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) oven-safe baking dish, spreading it into an even layer and smoothing the top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and lightly golden on top.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  8. Sprinkle chopped green onions or chives on top for garnish and serve warm with pretzel bites.

Notes

Let cream cheese soften at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before mixing to avoid lumps. Use rotisserie chicken for convenience. Avoid overbaking to keep dip bubbly and creamy. If dip is too runny after baking, let it rest longer; if too thick, add a splash of milk or extra buffalo sauce before baking. Taste and adjust salt and buffalo sauce before baking. Stir halfway through baking for even heat and cheese melt. For gluten-free, substitute pretzel bites with gluten-free crackers or veggie sticks. For dairy-free, use cashew cream or coconut yogurt and dairy-free cheese.
