These bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers are a perfect appetizer combining smoky, spicy, creamy, and crispy flavors. Ready in under 30 minutes, they are a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 medium fresh jalapeños
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 12 slices thin-cut bacon
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wearing gloves, slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and scoop out seeds and membranes for desired heat level.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and optional cayenne pepper until smooth.
  4. Stuff each jalapeño half generously with the cream cheese mixture.
  5. Cut each bacon slice in half. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño half with a bacon piece and secure with a toothpick.
  6. Arrange the wrapped poppers on the baking sheet with space between them. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bacon is crispy and jalapeños are tender. Optionally broil for 1-2 minutes for extra crispiness, watching closely.
  7. Let poppers cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Soften cream cheese fully before mixing for smooth filling. Use gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid irritation. Rotate baking sheet halfway through baking for even crisping. Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent soggy bacon. For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes but watch closely. Air fryer can be used at 375°F (190°C) for about 15 minutes with close attention.
