Instructions

  1. Remove the butter and egg from the fridge to bring them to room temperature.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with a hand or stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract; mix on low speed until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low to medium speed until no dry flour remains. Do not overmix.
