Aloha, I’m Kai ๐Ÿค™

Born in Oahu, Cooking Around the World

Growing up on the North Shore of Oahu, poke was more than just food โ€“ it was our way of life. My tutu (grandmother) taught me to select the freshest ahi at Tamashiro Market, and my uncle showed me how to cut fish like the old-timers do.

After moving to the mainland for college, I found myself homesick for real poke. The “poke bowls” I found were nothing like what we grew up eating. So I started this site to share authentic Hawaiian poke recipes and teach people how to source quality fish wherever they live.

Every recipe here carries the spirit of aloha โ€“ respect for the ocean, appreciation for fresh ingredients, and the joy of sharing good food with the people you love. When you make poke at home, you’re not just cooking โ€“ you’re connecting with a tradition that goes back generations.
